Time to soak up the sun Taylor....

Taylor had her first vacation this past weekend! We traveled to Ocala, Florida for the Tomes Family Reunion. It was a lot of fun. Taylor did so good. We drove 8 hours to Savannah, then stayed the night there and woke up and drove another 4 hours to Ocala. Jenny and Matt and the kids met us in Savannah and we carpooled to FL. Taylor did good.

While we were there, we stayed in a cabin with Mom and Dad Tomes. We had some fun. Taylor has been doing pretty good...she's up to 4 hours in between meals now, so we get a little sleep.

During the reunion, Taylor got to meet her Great Grandma Tomes. GG Tomes loved her. Taylor threw a little bit of fit and was screaming in her ear, but I think it was because she was tired and hungry is all.

The funny part about the trip was the fun night we had on Saturday night. We had a band outside of Becky and Bobby's camper and had some food and drinks and had some fun. Taylor slept through the WHOLE concert. It was hilarious. I had to keep checking to make sure she was alive. She was in her carseat on top of her stroller and we put her bug net on her and she slept the whole time. People were amazed, not to mention me and Tim were surprised!

All in all, Taylor's first trip went well. On the way back we stopped about half way and stayed in SC at a hotel. On the way home, Taylor slept the whole 7 hour trip and woke up about an exit away from home.

Sleep, how I miss you...

Taylor is one month old (tomorrow)! Tim and I are doing okay. It's tough getting used to a baby around the house. You go from getting a decent amount of sleep to getting almost none. Taylor gets up every 2 hours to eat....every once in a while she'll make it 3 hours. That's nice. I've been trying to sleep as much as I can when she is, but it's hard when there is so much to do around the house. I'm also really starting to hate when people tell me "You have to sleep when the baby does". Yea, okay....you're stoopid.  If you've had a kid, you know that's impossible because you're worrying about the house being a mess, dinner being cooked, laundry being done, or making sure all the bottles are ready for when the crying monster wakes up.

She had her 1 month dr appt today. She is 22 inches and 10 lbs! She's getting so big. The dr says she is healthy as can be!

We've just switched Taylor from breastmilk to formula as she seemed she just wasnt getting enough of my milk, was super cranky, and had a lot of diahrea. At one point she drank 10 whole ounces in an hour and then still wasnt satisfied. Tim and I decided it just wasnt worth the trouble of pumping and we wanted to make sure she was getting enough nutrition.

But she's been doing amazing on formula. Sleeps for 3 hours at a time instead of the 2.

Another appointment?

Taylor had her two week appointment today with Dr Nebzydoski. She is doing great. She wasnt quite up to birth weight so Dr Nebs said that she'd like to see her again after the weekend to double check her again. She was 7 lbs 13 oz, so only 3 oz away from being back to normal birth weight.  Kind of stinks I'm gonna have to bring her back on Monday, but as long as she's healthy, it's fine with me.   Funny how you dont realize how tough it is to lug around a kid until you have one.  Gone are the days I dont grab a BILLION things on my way out the door anymore.

UPDATE:  Instead of adding another post, I figured I'd update everyone and let you know I took Taylor back in and she is fine. I made sure to feed her a bottle RIGHT before her appointment so that she'd be over no matter what.  She was exactly that. She was 8 lbs, 1 oz, so right up over her original birthweight.

Taylor's 2 week doctor appointment.

Taylor had her two week appointment with Dr. Nebzydoski.  We dressed her up all cute for Dr. Nebs and even put some nice "shoes" on (LOL Love those socks that look like dress shoes).

She is doing great.  She wasnt quite up to birth weight, but we had her drink a bottle and she caught up real fast ha ha.  So everything is fine.  Dr. Nebs says she's a healthy girl. She was 8 lbs, 1 oz and still 20 inches.

5 day checkup...let the doctor's appointments begin

We had Taylor's 5 day appointment today with the pediatricians. She had to have her blood drawn from her foot for her jaundice test. Her billirubin came out a little high, but the dr said she should be fine and to sit her in sunlight for a few days.  So that's our plan.  We'll just scoot her bouncer up the windows and let her chill there til she goes blind.  But oh man, watching them poke her is just the worst site I ever thought I'd see. I didnt really see the pokies being done to her in the hospital because there was so much going on, I sort of "missed" it. Thank goodness.  Funny, I've been afraid of needles my whole life and now I have to watch my kid get poked...it's horrible.

Taylor was 20 inches and 7 lbs, 7 oz when they checked her today. It's normal for babies to lose some weight the first 2 weeks, but after that they should be caught up to at least birth weight. She comes back when she's 2 weeks old so we will see.

Now THAT'S a yellow baby...

That's one YELLOW kid :)

Chillin in the "sun".

Taylor was 20 inches long and 7 lbs, 7 oz.  They say it's normal for babies to lose some of their birth weight the first 2 weeks, but said they should be at their birthweight after 2 weeks.

She's here!!!!

Taylor was born May 4, 2008 at 6:45 pm. I was in labor for 9 hours and 5 minutes exactly. She was a whopping 8 lbs and 20 inches and is doing just great.   I'd fill you in on the exact birth story, but why would you wanna read that?  Instead we'll just say everything went alright and according to what I've heard and read, I had a pretty easy first birth with her.
Mommy meeting Taylor. My reaction to this was "this is mine?"

Daddy holding her and introducing her to Grandma Tomes

She got to come home today! YAY! She is so amazing, it's funny to think I "made" her. She came home in an adorable little pink sleeper, it came with a hat and booties. The weather was actually pretty nice today. It was warm, sunny and about 75 degrees! She did not like the sun at all at first glance. I think her eyes were so sensitive from being in total darkness for 9 months!

So small :)

Leaving the hospital.

We've introduced her to the cats. They arent very interested in what or who she is. I have a feeling they are in for some trouble as she gets older. All she basically does right now is eat every two hours and sleep a lot. My mom and dad are here, so they are getting a lot of time to visit with Taylor.   Tim's parents also came in to meet the newest.  Taylor is the 4th grandchild on our side and she is the 7th grandchild on Tim's side.
So precious. I cant believe we made her! :)
